Only Heidi Klum Looks Like This After Losing Her Luggage
Heidi Klum's creative talents came out to play yesterday, at a luncheon celebrating her fifth Wildlife jewelry collection with QVC. The supermodel, fresh off a lost-luggage catastrophe, was in high spirits despite her missing possessions, probably thanks to her valuable friendship with Michael Kors. "I can't believe someone was in the office that early, but I called from my hotel and an hour later there it was," Klum said of her scuba-tight black mini that would act as a minimal canvas for what was about to ensue.
Running around the room in an accessories-starved tizzy, Klum began to throw on heaps of jewelry. "All my jewelry is gone so I'm just going to put this stuff on now," she said, asking for styling opinions from neighboring journalists. After settling on about five bangles, three rings, a statement necklace, and a pair of earrings, Klum's ensemble was complete, though batting her eyelashes she contested, "I actually don't think my stuff is that sparkly." So, sparkles are her neutral?
Following four successful collections with QVC, Klum's fifth rendition of Wildlife was inspired by vintage pieces modified to her taste. She explained how a metallic necklace was inspired by a smaller-scale brooch and how a butterfly cuff took influence from her bathroom mirror, though there were certainly enough rhinestones to go around. "I design for myself but keep other women in mind of course, I make sure to make different sizes of cuffs because I know that not everyone has a teeny tiny wrist," she said, "but I'm really about making statement pieces—little things don't show up on camera, so I'm always wearing bigger pieces."
The collection, available starting May 17th, starts at about $32 for a pair of earrings and runs up to $115 for a multi-strand necklace, and Klum advises, "I don't want people to be afraid to bend things or change them to make them work better, they're just fun!"
